Planning is currently underway to make the PEACH program available to families in other regions across the state with the following sites earmarked for 2014;
- Hervey Bay
- Mt Isa
This follows the program’s successful start in Brisbane, Logan, Caboolture and Rockhampton with 78 families currently taking part.
PEACH program director and head of QUT’s Nutrition and Exercise Sciences School, Professor Lynne Daniels, says the response from the community to the program has been tremendous.
“Clearly there is a need for this type of support for families who are struggling to maintain a healthy balance and who need guidance to make lasting lifestyle changes, “ Professor Daniels said.
“The PEACH program is evidence-based and proven to be effective so families who are thinking of signing up will reap long-term benefits.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding this great program into regional areas and making sure families across the state are provided with the support they need.”
